Sainsbury’s is Britain’s oldest supermarket chain. Once a single family-run shop, the company now cashes £30,000 a minute in 800 stores across the UK. Although Sainsbury’s is a retail giant, the onset of credit crunch Britain has seen customers become more selective about where they do their shopping and how much they spend

Chief Executive, Justin King, has come up with a plan. He believes that somewhere on the shop floor, among the shelf stackers, cleaners, trolley pushers and checkout workers, may lie the next big idea that will give the supermarket the edge. So he decided to allow four shop floor workers the opportunity to try and roll their ideas out across the business, or take up a position of power where they can endeavour to make a difference to the business.

First up is Becky Craze, a cheerful soul, from the Watford store. She's been working for the company since she was 15 and thinks that she has a pretty good idea of how things should work and where things could be improved. Her plan revolves around the company's 'Feed Your Family For A Fiver' campaign. What she wants to do is place all of the ingredients of a dish in one place in the store rather than have the customer traipse all over the place looking for the individual items. The bosses give her one week, a prized end-of-aisle plinth and a sales target to reach. With the encouragement of her colleagues at the store it's off she goes tying to flog the ingredients for Sausage and Apple Cobbler.
